My friend Bronwyn had a fun conversation with her middle child.
My friend Brian posted this on Facebook and it stuck with me.
Featuring one of my favorite stories from Bronwyn about her precocious middle child who was an early reader.
Our little friend Caleb was very excited to have a lollipop… but then reality set in.
We got to spend lots of quality time with our friends on a week-long youth group trip. On the way back, our “family van” stopped for lunch at a pizza place, which had a full arcade and lots of candy and prize dispensers. Matthew used one of his quarters to buy a bouncy ball. After lunch, as he was playing with it, our little friend Sophia burst into tears. (The conversation about her missing bouncy ball really happened with me and her mom, but you know, this is a slightly fictionalized comic.)
Benjamin has always called potstickers “hotstickers,” which in this case, was completely appropriate.
Our friend Alex asked Benjamin if he was four years old.
Our lovely friends Brandt and Anda babysat for us (AND cleaned our house as an amazing surprise gift!). If they babysit for us again, they may provide more qualifiers on the kind of books our boys pick for bedtime stories!
After a while, Matthew was calling Anda “Knock-Knock” so much that he forgot her name. Benjamin remembered her name, though. Well, sort of.

Matthew was really perplexed as to why Anda drove up to to the church camp-out with our friends Meg and Alex.
