Camping adventures, part 1

Camping

We went camping last weekend. On the way, our van transmission died, which left us stuck on the middle of a large hill with smoke pouring into our car. As Steve tried unsuccessfully to get the car in gear, Benjamin started crying. We finally ended up backing up and coasting down the hill to park in front of an abandoned building. Luckily there were people living in the house next door who let us borrow their satellite phone to call friends (who ferried us to the camp) and emergency roadside service. But Benjamin was pretty traumatized still, and every time we got close to the car he would start crying again because of the “moke.”
