Parenting Strategy #108

 Parenting Strategy

There is actually some valid parenting theory behind this tongue-in-cheek comic. If you have a child where power struggles are becoming common, it can be helpful to avoid getting into a power struggle situation by minimizing requests (so that they don’t have a chance to say “no”) and rephrasing your own “no’s” so that you can increase the chance of having positive interactions with your child. The more positive interactions, the more chances you have to encourage your child and build on their strengths, and the less need they will have to pull the power struggle card.
